The Technical Resource Centre and Sector Transformation Fund provides:

  • financial resources to support a community housing providers who are exploring new and more efficient business models

This initiative will be delivered by a qualified third-party service provider.

OVERVIEW

A key goal of the strategy is to maintain and grow a resilient community housing sector. The Technical Resource Centre and Sector Transformation Fund provides:

  • technical assistance and tools to increase the capacity of community housing providers
  • financial resources to support a community housing providers who are exploring new and more efficient business models

Access to the Centre is open to existing and new community housing providers. Funding is available for existing community housing providers exploring new and more efficient business models. The Technical Resource Centre and Sector Transformation Fund will be delivered by a qualified third party service provider.

FUNDING DETAILS

The Sector Transformation Fund provides non-repayable contributions that support a longer-term evolution of community housing providers’ business models. These models will be more efficient, resilient and effective without displacing low-income households.

Eligible recipients will receive a contribution of up to $50,000 per community housing project. Additional funds up to $150,000 may be available to community housing providers whose project demonstrates greater potential of achieving the strategy’s priorities.

The recipient will sign an agreement with the Technical Resource Centre that sets out the terms and conditions of the funding. The deliverables to be achieved and reporting and performance measurement requirements to be met.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Transformation Funding will be available to existing community housing providers. The funding is to enhance and modernize current business models towards more efficient, resilient and effective models.

Examples of funding requests include:

  • consolidation activity fees
  • pooling of assets
  • shared procurement and supply arrangements
  • financial planning or energy audits

Eligible proponents include non-profit housing organizations and non-profit co-operatives including urban Indigenous groups.
